Family Owned Business

Ear Gear is a family owned business that was born out the need to find a way to keep our daughter Shameera’s hearing aids secure. Shameera has a rare chromosome disorder called Partial Trisomy 18. The effects of this disorder are a significant developmental delay. Shameera also has a mild strabismus and mild to moderate hearing loss.

The Challenge
Shameera has been wearing hearing aids since the age of two. Because of her cognitive delay, it was difficult to make her understand that the hearing aids could help her. We tried various hearing aid accessories to assist her in keeping her hearing aids on, but they were not effective. Our family spent a lot of time searching for her hearing aids. It was a very frustrating situation.

Shameera’s second pair of hearing aids were digital and cost $4,000.00. The loss of these hearing aids could have created a financial hardship for our family. There was a real need for a hearing aid accessory that could help keep these aids secure.

The Solution
Mark, Shameera’s dad, came up with a hearing aid accessory he believed could solve the problem. That hearing aid accessory was Ear Gear. The first pair of Ear Gear was fuchsia pink and Shameera loved them. They looked great, provided the hearing aids with protection from the elements, and even cut down on the chafing that Shameera experienced. Best of all, they were a hearing aid accessory that really kept Shameera’s hearing aids secure. We showed them to our audiologist and she thought they were an excellent hearing aid accessory.

Since that time, Ear Gear has evolved in a full fledged company and at this time is manufacturing models of Ear Gear for , children, adults, FM, and  Cochlear Processor wearers. All models of Ear Gear are available in as monaural models. For the full range of Ear Gear available see our
